What are some examples of a MBA application essay Quora
As a tutor, I found that it was important when starting with a new student to find out where his/her discomfort with math began. Often, this meant going back several years in their education to explain important basic concepts. For some students, fractions and decimals were the point at which math stopped making sense. For many others, it was the introduction of letters to represent numbers in algebra. Some students found that identifying their weaknesses was an embarrassing process. I explained to them that it was not their fault. Everyone comes to understand new concepts in math in a slightly different way, and the problem was that no teacher had taken the time to explain their "problem area" in a way which would make sense to them. Since math was a system, once they missed out on that one building block, it was not surprising that the rest of it did not make sense. Our mission together would be to find the way in which the system worked for them.
In recent years, nearly all Vanderbilt MBA students have had at least one year of full-time work experience and 90 percent have worked three or more years before enrollment. We look for students who can work well with others, seek opportunities to manage projects and lead people and consistently exceed expectations. While our flexible curriculum allows students to explore various areas of study, we expect our applicants to have invested a considerable amount of time into determining their career goals. Applicants should try to attain work experiences that will build the right transferrable skills, laying the proper foundation for business school and the post-MBA career. We do not require a certain type of experience—work in all fields, military duty, volunteer service and involvement in community and extracurricular activities give our students the ability to share unique perspectives. We evaluate your experience via your résumé, interview and letters of recommendation.

Craft an MBA essay that will make admission officers take notice.
For this question, make sure that you balance your strengths and weaknesses. It is tempting to provide three strengths and one weakness, but such an approach could feel dishonest to the committee. I would suggest offering up at least two strengths and at least two weaknesses. Choose your weaknesses honestly. MBA admissions board members do not expect perfect candidates, but they do expect candidates that are self-aware and eager to work on their weaknesses. State your weaknesses and then share how you would like to improve.

Vanderbilt University does not admit applicants seeking a second MBA degree or a similar graduate management degree, regardless of where the first was obtained. Exempt from this policy are graduate management degrees that were earned at a college or university outside the U.S. in order to satisfy the four-year U.S. bachelor's degree equivalency requirement. Also exempt are master’s degrees that focus on a specific functional area of business (such as accounting, finance or management information systems), as long as it does not offer a broad general management curriculum typical of the MBA degree.
